M6 Birmingham crash LIVE: Man dies after collision closes motorway
A man has tragically died in a crash as police closed part of the M6 motorway overnight. The M6 northbound was shut between Junction 6 (Birmingham, Spaghetti Junction) and Junction 7 (A34 Great Barr) after midnight, National Highways said. Multiple emergency resources in attendance.
West Midlands Police are leading the response, supported by West Midlands Ambulance Service. Police later confirmed that a silver Porsche 911 Carrera hit a barrier. A man, aged in her 50s, later died.
Traffic officers were on scene assisting with full carriageway closures and traffic management measures. "Due to the nature of the incident, the closure is expected to be protracted," National Highways said. The motorway was fully reopened around five hours later.
