M1 near East Midlands Airport closes following incident with cattle trailer
Northbound remains closed
For those joining us at 10am, the M1 northbound[1] remains closed this morning between junctions 23 and 23A following a collision involving a trailer carrying cattle. Traffic monitoring service Inrix has reported that emergency repairs are currently being undertaken between junctions 23 and 23A on the M1 Southbound, partially blocking the entry slip road, but the Southbound road has been reopened. Current delays on the M1 Northbound are coming up on Google maps as one hour and 30 minutes, showing heavy congestion on the busy motorway.
The closure on the M1 this morning has seen a diversion route put in place for drivers.
Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol.
