Live M60 traffic updates tonight as crash leaves motorway blocked in Greater Manchester

The M60 motorway is blocked following a crash in Greater Manchester tonight (Sunday, January 4). Traffic is being held on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 16 and Junction 17 near Prestwich, with drivers advised to find alternative routes. The incident was first reported shortly after 7pm.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M60 in Greater Manchester is blocked clockwise between J16 and J17 Prestwich due to a collision. Emergency services are on scene. "Please allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes."

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to accident on M60 clockwise from J15 M61 J1 (Swinton Interchange) to J17 A56 Bury New Road (Prestwich / Whitefield)."
