A627M motorway reopens after earlier closure due to ‘police incident’
A Greater Manchester motorway was closed tonight due to a police incident. Drivers were being urged to avoid the A627M in Rochdale[1]. All traffic[2] was currently being held on the southbound motorway with queues building.
National Highway North West posted on X: "A627M southbound is closed between A664 near Rochdale and J3 M62 J20 near Royton. Closure is due to a @gmptraffic led incident. "Diversion via local roads.
Updates to follow." Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: "All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to police incident on A627(M) Southbound from J4 A664 Edinburgh Way to J3 M62 J20 (Rochdale)." It reopened at around 8pm.
