Two men rushed to hospital following early-morning horror crash on M1 motorway

Two men were rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle road traffic collision[1] which occurred on the M1 motorway in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Garda?[2] and emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a collision involving two vehicles which occurred at Junction 6 Balbriggan on the M1 southbound shortly before 3am.
The male drivers of the two vehicles, a man aged in his 20s and a man aged in his 50s, were treated to at the scene before being taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to not be life threatening at this time.
The road was closed for a time to allow for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since reopened.
In a statement to the Irish Mirror, a garda spokesperson said: "Garda? and emergency services attended the scene of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the M1 Junction 6 (Southbound), Co.
Dublin on Sunday 21st December 2025 shortly before 3:00am.
"Two male drivers (1 aged in his 20s, 1 in his 50s) were conveyed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to not be life threatening at this time.
"The road has since fully reopened."
The incident comes just days after an elderly woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the M1[3].
The crash, which involved five vehicles, happened between junction 7, Julianstown, and junction 8, Duleek in Co Louth shortly before 12pm on Friday.
Emergency services raced to the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours, leading to long delays on the busy motorway[4].
A woman in her 80s was treated at the scene before being taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment of serious injuries.
