Two M62 junctions ranked as busy Christmas traffic hotspots
Kirklees and Leeds portions of the motorway are among the most hectic routes, especially during the holiday season according to research by an insurance company. These sections face an influx, particularly this December, as Christmas shoppers and day trippers travel across the North. For Kirklees, this equates to an average of 165,097 vehicles daily, with a negative sentiment of 17 per cent.
Meanwhile, Leeds manages around 146,640 vehicles a day under the same conditions. The study reportedly assessed several parameters - including peak traffic, lane numbers, negative sentiment online, and social mentions about congestion - to pinpoint these bottleneck areas. The study was conducted by car insurance site iSelect.
Their report places Kirklees' M62 stretch 14th and Leeds' M62 part 22nd on the list of Britain's most congested motorway sections. Both sections of the M62 are likely to feel the strain as festive celebrations escalate this December.
