Reap: M6 updates as two-car smash triggers motorway gridlock and A500 delays
Motorists are facing delays on the M6 following a two-car smash. The collision has occurred on the northbound carriageway between Junction 16 and 17. Traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting there is 'debris on the road'.
In addition the crash has also resulted in two lanes being closed. A live map from National Highways is showing stationary traffic around Junction 16 along with delays on the A500. Today is expected to be the busiest day on the roads and railway network.
The AA has warned of gridlock in some places with a survey suggesting as many as 24.4 million cars could hit the roads.
