Live M23 updates as heavy traffic builds after crash between M25 and Gatwick
Drivers are facing heavy traffic on the M23[1] this morning (Thursday, December 4) following a reported crash on the southbound carriageway. The incident took place between the M25[2] at J7 and J9 of the M23 for Gatwick Airport[3]. The crash was first reported shortly before 6.30am.
Traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix currently states that all traffic is being temporarily held in the area. Motorway cameras at the scene show drivers contending with long queues of gridlocked traffic. There is reportedly debris in the road which is furthering the delays.
Traffic has also built back onto the M25 clockwise towards J6 for Godstone[4]. It is not yet known when normal travel conditions are expected to resume. This is a live event.
