Hour-long delays on M4 due to emergency repairs

A section of the M4 in south Wales was closed for hours following a crash near Swansea on Monday morning and emergency repairs being carried out. The collision happened between Junction 42 at the A483 and Junction 41. A stretch of the eastbound side of the motorway was then closed due to emergency repairs.

According to traffic monitoring service Inrix on Monday afternoon: "M4 Eastbound closed, severe delays due to emergency repairs from J38 A48 (Margam) to J37 A4229 (Pyle/Porthcawl). "Congestion to J42 Swansea East/Briton Ferry. Surrounding routes around Port Talbot are also heavily congested as traffic seeks an alternative.

In the roadworks area."

The road reopened on Monday evening.
