Ashford man arrested following police chase on M6 southbound near Stubbins, Lancashire
A man from Kent has been arrested after a busy motorway was shut off when a car performed a U-turn during a police chase. Lancashire Police received a call at about 8.45pm yesterday of a motorist driving erratically on the M6 near Stubbins.
Officers attended and requested the vehicle, a Seat Ibiza, to stop, but it failed to do so, performing a U-turn and driving north on the southbound carriageway. Officers say a police vehicle made tactical contact to bring the Seat to a stop and prevent the vehicle from travelling further.
A 26-year-old man from Ashford has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody.
No serious injuries have been reported.
The motorway was closed during the incident and reopened at about 10.25pm.
