Nine motorway closures in Greater Manchester tonight including M60, M66 and M61

Here's a full list of the nine closures affecting five motorways

Greater Manchester drivers are being warned to plan ahead on Monday evening (November 24) as there are nine motorway closures in the region tonight.

Regular maintenance means sections of five motorways in Greater Manchester will close overnight, all of which are expected to be fully re-opened by 6am on Tuesday, November 25.

However, incidents like a crash could affect the planned closures.

All of the motorway closures planned are to allow scheduled maintenance to take place, according to information handed out by traffic monitoring service Inrix and National Highways, the organisation which runs Britain's motorways.

The five motorways affected tonight are the M58 in Wigan[1]; the M66 in Bury[2]; the A627(M) in Rochdale[3] and Oldham[4]; the M60[5] in Salford[6], south Manchester, and Stockport[7]; and the M61 in Bolton[8].

Closures begin from 9pm, so any late-night journeys might be disrupted.

• M58 Westbound: M6 junction 26 (Orrell Interchange) to junction 5 A577 Prescott Road (Up Holland), from 21:00 on November 24, 2025 to 6:00 on November 25, 2025, roadworks during the night.

• M66 Southbound: Junction 2 (Bury), from 21:00 on November 24, 2025 to 5:00 on November 25, 2025, roadworks during the night.
• M66 Southbound: Junction 3 Pilsworth Road (Hollins) to junction 4/M60 junction 18 (Simister Island), from 21:00 on November 24, 2025 to 5:00 on November 25, 2025, roadworks during the night.
• A627(M) in both directions: Junction 3/M62 J20 (Rochdale) to junction 1 A663 Broadway (Elk Mill Roundabout), from 23:59 on November 24, 2025 to 6:00 on November 25, 2025, roadworks during the night.
• M60 Anticlockwise to M61 Northbound link road: M60 Anticlockwise to M61 Northbound link road closure, November 24, 2025 at 23:59 to November 25, 2025 at 06:00, carriageway closure for electrical works.
• M60 Anticlockwise: Junction 5 entry slip road closure, November 24, 2025 at 21:00 to November 25, 2025 at 06:00, carriageway closure for barrier/fence safety repairs.
• M60 Clockwise: Junction 27 entry slip road closure, November 24, 2025 at 21:00 to November 25, 2025 at 06:00, carriageway closure for drainage.
• M60 Anticlockwise: Junction 18 dedicated link road closure, November 24, 2025 at 20:00 to November 25, 2025 at 05:00, carriageway closure for signs - maintenance on behalf of National Highways.
• M61 northbound: Rivington Services closed, November 24, 2025 at 21:00 to November 25, 2025 at 06:00, carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).
