Nine dramatic photos reveal scale of lorry fire on the M1
New dramatic photos have revealed the scale of the recent lorry fire on the M1 in Leicestershire[1]. The motorway was shut after a collision involving three vehicles[2] - two of which were lorries - on Monday, November 3. Leicestershire Police[3] were called at 5.27am to a report of the collision, which left two vehicles on fire.
The southbound carriageway between junctions 21 for the M69 and 20 for Lutterworth[4] was closed for several hours while emergency teams responded to the incident. The northbound carriageway[5] was also closed earlier in the day but later reopened. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that fuel had spilled onto the road.
Police said motorists were advised to avoid the area where possible and to seek alternative routes. Officers confirmed no one was injured in the crash. The force appealed for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch, quoting incident 61 of November 3.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service[6] (LFRS) released a series of images today (Wednesday, November 5), revealing the true scale of the blaze on the motorway[7].
