Major delays on M6 after crashes on both sides of motorway

Emergency services are at the scene. Two lanes are closed on the M6 northbound due to an accident between junction 18 and 19. Two lanes are also closed on the M6 southbound from junction 18 for the A54 at Middlewich Road to junction 17 at the A534 Old Mill Road.

Traffic is queuing for several miles (Image: Highways England) Long queues are forming through Grappenhall in Warrington as traffic diverts at the Lymm Interchange. Heavy traffic is reported across Cheshire as drivers seek alternative routes.

Drivers are warned to expect delays. There has been a third accident on the M6 Southbound, causing further delays for drivers heading towards Middlewich and Holmes Chapel. The incident happened at around 2.10pm.

One lane is closed and there is queuing traffic due to an accident on the M6 southbound from junction 18 to junction 17.

At 4.15pm, Inrix has confirmed that all lanes on the M6 northbound and southbound are now clear and have re-opened.

Traffic flow has returned to normal.
