M65 traffic LIVE: Serious crash leaves motorway closed as police issue warning
The M65 has been closed following a "serious" crash[1] in Lancashire. The closure was first reported at around 10.30pm with police saying it is expected to remain shut for some time. A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "M65 is currently closed westbound between junctions 9 and 10 due to a road traffic collision.
We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe. "In the meantime, we'd recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination." The the M65 westbound is now closed between Junctions 9 and 11 near Burnley, National Highways North West said in a post on social media[2] platform X, previously known as Twitter.
The road was initially closed between Junctions 9 and 10.

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 01:15 and 01:30 local time on Saturday, November 22, 2025, official motorway camera systems reported. All lanes are currently closed on the M65 westbout between Juction 9 and Junction 10.

National Highways issued the following diversion route to roadusers:
- Leave M65 at J10 and turn left onto the A671 Cavalry Way
- At the A671/A679 roundabout, take the third exit onto the A679 Accringtion Way
- At the A679/Bentley Wood Way roundabout, take the third exit onto the A679 northbound
- Continue to re-join the M65 at J9
Police issue statement
