M40 motorway to close: National Highways will shut for work

The agency will be closing a stretch of the motorway in Oxfordshire overnight on Thursday, November 27 into Friday, November 28. It will be shut from junction 8a at Oxford services southbound towards London Heathrow Airport. And drivers will not be allowed to rejoin the M40 until after junction 6 at the Lewknor Interchange, which services Watlington in the south of Oxfordshire.

The stretch of motorway is to be closed form 10.15pm and will reopen at 6am on Friday morning. Slip roads at junction 7 in between will also be closed overnight, the agency said in an update. The National Highways says: "M40 Southbound.

Jct 9 to Jct 8a Lane closures, slip road closures and diversion route for maintenance works.

Diversion via national highways network."
