M4 crash and overturned lorry sees drivers hit with long delays

Police were called to two separate incidents on the M4 on Tuesday afternoon after a car collided with the central reservation, and a van overturned. There were severe delays after the accidents which took place on M4 eastbound from junction 48 A4138 Pontardulais Road (Hendy / Llanelli) to junction 47 A483 (Penllergaer / Swansea West services), and on M4 westbound before junction 44 A4230 Peniel Green Road (Llansamlet). In a statement describing the first incident, a police spokesman said: "South Wales Police was called at 12pm today (Tuesday, November 4) to an overturned van on the M4 eastbound between from junction 48 Pontardulais and junction 47 Swansea west services.

"The driver of the van was unharmed." And describing the second, he added: "South Wales Police was called at 12.20pm today (Tuesday, November 4) to a car having hit the central reservation on the M4 westbound between junctions 44 and 45. "The driver of the car was unharmed, all lanes that were closed have now re-opened."
