The M1 is shut as the emergency services respond to a collision involving three vehicles - two of which were lorries - this morning (Monday, November 3) on the M1 motorway. Leicestershire Police[1] were called at 5.27am to a report of the collision, which left two vehicles on fire. Both the southbound and northbound carriageways between junctions 21 for the M69 and 20 for Lutterworth are currently closed off as emergency teams work in response to the incident.
Motorists are being advised by Leicestershire Police[2] to avoid the area where possible. The force added that drivers should seek an alternative route where they can. Police are appealing for people with information regarding the incident to get in touch, quoting incident 61 of November 3.
