West Yorkshire road set for nine month closure due to Network Rail work

Starting next week, part of Calder Road will be closed until Summer 2026 whilst Network Rail completes work. Thornhill Road / Fall Lane has been shut for utility works but will reopen on 25th October ahead of the Calder Road closure. Diversions will be in place in the area, with residents and vehicle users urged to check roadworks.org for the latest information.
The closure will allow for road realignment work, utility diversions and improvement work, which will connect Ravensthorpe Road and Calder Road with the new bridge that will become operational in 2026. This new bridge will align better with the new track layout that will separate the fast and slow lines.

No more than one phased area will be closed at any time to enable vehicle access to remain open to local businesses. Andrew Campbell, TRU sponsor: "We really appreciate the local community's ongoing patience and understanding while we undertake work in Ravensthorpe.
"We're aware that the closure on Calder Road may cause some disruption to residents and commuters, so we've worked hard to minimise the impact by keeping a pedestrian route open and ensuring that vehicle access remains in place to all businesses, due to the phased closure approach.
"The work on Calder Road is an important part of the wider rail upgrades in Ravensthorpe, which will ultimately enable us to build a new station that serves faster, more frequent and more reliable services across the Transpennine route."
