Investigations are continuing into two separate road collisions on consecutive days that each saw the loss of a young life in Gloucestershire.

On Thursday (October 16) a man in his 20s died when the tractor he was driving was involved in a single-vehicle collision[1] on the A417 Old Birdlip Hill in Witcombe at around 2.30pm.

The next day, Friday (October 17) a 19-year-old died in a collision with a lorry[2] on the A429 Bristol Road in Cirencester with road closures into Saturday afternoon.

Both incidents caused shock in the county and prompted an outpouring of support to all those who knew the two men who were lost in as many days.

Among those paying tribute to the 19-year-old who died in Cirencester on Friday night was Cllr Joe Harris, county councillor for Cirencester Park.

He said on social media on Saturday evening: "I'm deeply saddened to hear about the tragic incident on the A429 last night, which has claimed the life of a young man.

"This is an unimaginable loss for his family and friends. I know everyone in our community will be thinking of them and holding them in their hearts at this difficult time.

"Thank you to the emergency services and highways crews who as always responded so quickly and worked through the night to manage the scene and make the road safe."

Jeanette Scott, writing on Gloucestershire Live's Facebook page, said: "Second young man to died in our area in a week. So sad."

Rosie Day wrote: "Heart breaks for the family."

And Maggie Cullimore wrote: "So sad.

My thoughts are with his family. God bless you."
