A man has died following a fatal collision in Cirencester[1] yesterday evening (Friday, October 17).

Emergency services were called to the A429 Bristol Road, near the Waitrose store, at around 9.45pm.

It was reported to Gloucestershire Police[2] that there was a collision involving a lorry and a man.

A 19-year-old man died at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: "His next of kin are aware and being supported by specially trained officers."

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who was travelling along the A429 between Cirencester Fire Station and Cirencester Hospital roundabouts, at around 9.30pm last night, who may have seen a pedestrian in or near the carriageway to get in touch.

The A429 was closed overnight and reopened earlier this afternoon (Saturday, October 18).

Police said it would like to thank the public for their patience.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "A man has died following a fatal collision in Cirencester yesterday evening (Friday, October 17).

"Emergency services were called to the A429 Bristol Road, near the Waitrose store, at around 9.45pm following a report of a collision involving the driver of a lorry and a man.

"The man, aged 19, sadly died at the scene. His next of kin are aware and being supported by specially trained officers.

"The closures on Bristol Road have now been lifted and officers would like to thank the public for their patience while they were in place.

"Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who was travelling along the A419 between Cirencester Fire Station and Cirencester Hospital roundabouts at approximately 9.30pm last night, and who may have seen a pedestrian in or near the carriageway, to get in touch.

Joe Harris, County Councillor for Cirencester Park, said: "I'm deeply saddened to hear about the tragic incident on the A429 last night, which has claimed the life of a young man.

"This is an unimaginable loss for his family and friends.

I know everyone in our community will be thinking of them and holding them in their hearts at this difficult time.

"Thank you to the emergency services and highways crews who as always responded so quickly and worked through the night to manage the scene and make the road safe."
