Overnight road closures for Shrewsbury railway bridge inspection

Road closures will be in place on Cross Street and Castle Foregate in Shrewsbury from Sunday 9 to Friday 14 November [2025] while Network Rail carry out detailed inspections of the railway bridge. The road closures will be as follows

• Sunday 9 into Monday 10 November - 11pm to 6am. Closures on both Castle Foregate and Cross Street
• Monday 10 to Thursday 13 November - 11pm to 6am.

  Closure on Castle Foregate

• Thursday 13 into Friday 14 November - 11pm to 6am. Closure on Cross Street

During the work vehicles will also be prohibited from turning left onto Castle Foregate from Howard Street. A signed diversion route will be in place whilst the road closures are in force and access to residential properties and to businesses affected will be maintained at all times.

Advance warning signs will be erected on site two weeks prior to the works commencing with residents and businesses notified.

Unfortunately it hasn't been possible for Network Rail to complete the examinations during Shropshire Council's work in the area outside the railway station.
