Man arrested after lorry crash closes key road through county

An articulated lorry, believed to be carrying woodchips, overturned at the Malmesbury Roundabout on the A350 in Chippenham, near Morrisons, spilling its load. This happened at around 2am on Friday, October 17, and emergency services were called to the scene after reports the driver was trapped in the vehicle. Road closures were put in place between Morrisons and the BP petrol station while emergency crews worked at the scene, and these remain in place at the time of writing.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.

Police say the road is likely to remain closed for the rest of Friday morning due to the complex recovery process that is still ongoing. A police investigation into the incident is underway and officers have urged any witnesses to come forward.
