Man allegedly stabbed in unprovoked attack at Maidstone M20 Services

A man has been stabbed in an unprovoked attack at a motorway service station. The victim is said to have been assaulted with a knife at Maidstone[1] Services off the M20 as he walked from the Days Inn Hotel.

A stranger is reported to have approached him near the Esso petrol station and Junction 8 of the motorway before launching the attack between 11pm and 11.25pm on Friday (October 3). Despite suffering cuts to his arm and chest, he managed to reach the hotel and police were called.

He was taken to hospital but later discharged. The suspect is described as white, around 6ft, with stubble and dark clothing. He is believed to have spoken with an Eastern European accent.

Police are today urging for witnesses or drivers who were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage to come forward. PC Megan Lovelock said: "We are continuing inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident, which is reported to have been an unprovoked attack.

"Whilst it took place late in the evening, the area is well lit and would have been busy with cars and lorries.

"It is possible people may have videoed the assault on their phones and we are also urging drivers to review dashcams, which may contain important footage."
