Part of a major Liverpool road is closed after a person was hit by a lorry. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police[1] has told the ECHO[2] the force were called to Riverside Drive just before 12pm today.
It appears there has been a collision[3] between a lorry and a pedestrian on Riverside Drive in Otterspool[4], which connects south Liverpool to the city centre[5] and runs along the River Mersey[6]. Road closures are in place in the area[7].
There are no details of injuries at this stage.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "Riverside Drive in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from A5036 Sefton[8] Street (Sefton Street roundabout) to Ellerman Road."
Arriva North West posted on X at 12.30pm this afternoon that the route of the 500 express bus service, which runs from the city centre to Liverpool John Lennon Airport[9], had been changed.
Arriva said: "Due to a police incident on Riverside Drive, service 500 is diverting via Aigburth[10] Road, Park Road and Parliament Street in both directions.
"It will be omitting Brunswick Station, Riverside Drive and Jericho Lane.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
