M5 traffic queues in Bristol after morning crash

Drivers faced queues on the M5 after a crash in Bristol[1] this morning. The motorway was partially blocked northbound[2] following a collision between junctions 19-18 this morning (Monday, October 20). National Highways reported delays in the area.

Traffic monitor Inrix said: "M5 northbound partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident from J18 M49 to J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead)." The northbound carriageway reopened by around 8.30am, before a second collision partially blocked the road southbound in the same area. Traffic monitor Inrix reports this direction reopened by around 9am: "Road cleared and traffic returned to normal, accident cleared on M5 Southbound from J18 M49 to J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead)."
