Lorry driver filmed ‘watching the news’ on busy motorway

The freight company said they are investigating the incident involving one of their drivers

A video has captured the shocking moment a lorry driver was spotted 'watching TV' on a device whilst driving on the motorway near Manchester.
The incident, involving an XDP lorry, was recorded on the M6 close to J22 for Winwick Interchange at approximately 7.25am on Tuesday, October 14.
The witness, who was travelling in another vehicle in the adjacent lane, captured the brief video which appears to show a mobile phone mounted on the dashboard above the steering wheel.
It seemed to show the driver watching the screen whilst travelling at speed on the congested motorway. XDP is a freight and parcel delivery company operating in the UK, reports the Manchester Evening News[1].
The brief footage, shared with the Manchester Evening News and on X, was accompanied by the caption "Driver in morning rush hour on the M6 at Manchester. Unbelievable."

The individual recording the clip can be heard remarking: "Casually watching the news while you're driving the truck" and captures a man at the wheel, who appears to become aware of being filmed.
The Manchester Evening News approached XDP which stated it regards 'incidents of this nature extremely seriously' and that the matter had been referred to the company's Operations Team for an 'immediate review'.

"Thank you for getting in touch and for bringing this matter to our attention.
We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously, and I can confirm this has been escalated to our Operations Team for immediate review," a statement read.
