Is your job worth the FAF? DAF adds 10×4 heavy-duty chassis to range

DAF FAF 10x4

DAF has added a new heavy-duty option to its line-up -- a factory-built 10x4 'FAF' chassis aimed squarely at tough construction and heavy-haul applications. Designed for high payloads and tight-site manoeuvrability, the FAF offers a technical GVW of up to 52 tonnes and a clever rear tridem setup combining muscle and agility. The tridem includes a dual-driven tandem (with single or hub reduction) plus a hydraulically steered lifting trailing axle, giving it both traction and turning ability in equal measure.

Up front, twin 8- or 9-tonne leaf-spring axles mean serious strength -- ideal for mounting large cranes directly behind the cab. DAF says the trailing axle can take a static load of up to 26 tonnes, handy when tipping or handling hookloader containers that briefly shift almost all their weight to the rear. Power comes from PACCAR MX-11 or MX-13 engines paired with TraXon automated transmission.

Output options range from 300 to 530 bhp, offering plenty of grunt for demanding work. DAF says the new FAF chassis joins its existing 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 8x2 and 8x4 models, giving operators more choice for specialist builds. Both XD and XF cabs are available, featuring the same excellent visibility and ergonomic layouts found across the latest DAF range.

Optional features such as the DAF Digital Vision System, Corner View and reversing camera further boost safety on busy or confined worksites.

The 10x4 FAF chassis can be ordered now through DAF's dealer network, with a right-hand-drive version for the UK set to arrive in 2026.
