Footage captures terrifying moment crash sends load of wood crashing onto M8
Dash-cam footage has captured the terrifying moment that a lorry crash caused the load of wood it was carrying to crash down onto the M8 as vehicles passed underneath. Emergency services were called to the collision at around 5.30pm at junction 22 eastbound near the M77. We previously told how Traffic Scotland had warned[1] of "severe delays on all routes" as the westbound carriageway was partially restricted while the M77 was closed northbound on approach to the M8.
Now dash-cam footage has shown the terrifying moment that the wood came crashing onto the lower carriageway[2] - hitting one van and causing another vehicle to swerve. In the clip, the vehicles can be seen moving before a mass of wood lands in the fast lane and bursts across the motorway as oncoming traffic tries to dodge the hazard. It is currently unclear if anyone was injured during the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are in attendance following a report of a lorry shedding its load and crashing on the M8 near the M77, which was reported around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 30 September, 2025.
"The M8 at junction 22 is closed eastbound and partially closed westbound, whilst the M77 is closed northbound on approach to the M8. "Motorists are advised to avoid the area and are thanked for their patience." Sign up to our daily Glasgow Live newsletter here[3] to receive news and features direct to your inbox
