£1.2m Omega refuelling site now open in Warrington

Certas Energy has opened a brand-new GBP1.2 million Omega bunker site in Warrington - its first new location in five years. The official launch of the Omega site took place on 29 October, attended by representatives from the Road Haulage Association, the AA, and local politicians. Now fully up and running, Certas reckons the site is a major boost for transport operations in the North West, offering drivers faster, safer and more flexible refuelling.

The Omega bunker features high-speed pumps capable of delivering up to 120 litres per minute. Security has also been a top priority, with CCTV monitoring and anti-skimming devices installed to make it one of the safest refuelling spots around. As part of Certas Energy's push toward cleaner fuels, the site supplies Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) alongside diesel and AdBlue, bringing the company's total number of HVO-at-the-pump locations to 17 nationwide.

The tanks can also be reconfigured in future if demand for HVO grows beyond diesel. Located near Junction 8 of the M62, the new site conveniently sits between Certas's existing Port of Liverpool and Trafford Park (Manchester) bunkers, giving hauliers across the region more choice and flexibility.

Mike Heaton, head of estate development at Certas Energy, said: "Opening the Omega site with the support of local politicians and transport representatives marks an important step forward in our strategy to expand and modernise our nationwide bunker network, while also making lower-carbon fuels like HVO more accessible to UK fleets.

"The location was chosen based on strong customer demand in the Warrington area, with around 14,000 HGVs and a further 21,000 LCVs passing Junction 8 in either direction each day.

Its prime position makes refuelling easier, faster and more secure for drivers across the region."
