Trains cancelled on main line in Powys after lorry crashes into bridge

Transport for Wales have confirmed that a bus replacement service will be put in place after a lorry got stuck underneath a railway bridge near Caersws. In an update this morning (September 10), National Rail confirmed that a section of the Cambrian line was blocked as a result of the incident.

In their latest update National Rail said: "A vehicle striking a bridge at Caersws means the line is currently closed. "As a result, trains between Machynlleth and Welshpool may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised to start / terminate at Shrewsbury.
"Disruption is expected until 11:00.

In their latest update Transport for Wales[3] added: "We've been made aware of a road vehicle colliding with a bridge on the line at Caersws. "For this reason the line is blocked and services are unable to travel through the area. Please expect residual delays and possible cancellations.
"Please note that we're actively resourcing road transport. Check back later for updates. "We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
The crash this morning has seen a lorry and its trailer become wedged under a bridge between Clatter and Caersws.
Traffic Wales released an update this morning that the "A470 Pontdolgoch closed in both directions" and added that the "road will be closed for some time".
Dyfed-Powys Police have officers at the scene and have advised drivers to find an alternative route.
