Road in East Lancashire to close overnight for rail repair works

Enfield Road in Huncoat will close to motor vehicles between 11.30pm on October 4 and 8.30am on October 5. The closure will affect a 40-metre stretch, covering 20 metres either side of the level crossing. Pedestrian access across the crossing will be maintained throughout the works.

Lancashire County Council said the closure is necessary to allow Network Rail to remove a rail defect. The council has confirmed that access for emergency services and vehicles will be maintained wherever possible. An alternative route has been put in place for affected traffic.

The diversion will run via Enfield Road, Station Road, Lower Gate Road, Higher Gate Road, Burnley Road, Penny House Lane, Whalley Road, Whinney Hill Road, and back to Enfield Road.

The closure will remain in place until the works are completed.
