Phil Roe Achieves Major Award

Phil Roe, Logistics UK's President, has been recognised as President of the Year at the 2025 Memcom Awards. The awards are open to all professional bodies, trade associations, membership trade unions and the wider not-for-profit membership sector, and recognise excellence across strategy, leadership, engagement and achievement.  "Phil leads from the front and by example," says Kevin Green, Acting Chief Executive at Logistics UK, "and inspires everyone he encounters to perform at the highest level.

From driving the Generation Logistics campaign forwards with enthusiasm and vigour to helping our executive board introduce a new strategic vision for the organisation, and launching new membership products to help us better represent the whole of the sector, Phil's passion for logistics and commitment to excellence shine through in everything he does. We couldn't be prouder that the wider sector now knows about his passion for our industry - this award is very well deserved."  Roe joined Logistics UK as President in April 2022 after five years as a non-executive Director.

During his time as President, he has played a key role in the introduction of the organisation's new strategic vision, and taken a leading role in Logistics UK's thought-leadership positioning, launching a new representative group for Chief Executives and Managing Directors and driving forwards the organisation's new Executive Membership category to engage the C-Suite. His tenure as President was extended by two years from March 2025.  As a mentor and coach, Phil is committed to developing young talent across the sector, and leads the Generation Logistics programme, the multi-award-winning campaign which seeks to showcase careers in the sector to young people aged 13-24.

Under his guidance, the campaign has achieved exceptional results, driving a 212% increase in positive sentiment towards careers in the sector and a 37% overall awareness in the opportunities available to young people.    "Phil has a unique ability to combine strategic vision with inclusive leadership and a drive to empower others," continues Green, "ensuring that members remain at the heart of everything he does, while staff and the wider world benefit from his enthusiasm and knowledge. The whole team at Logistics UK is thrilled for him!"

Logistics UK is one of the UK's biggest business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With decarbonisation, Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, water and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
