Man charged after South Lanarkshire police chase on busy M74

A man has been charged following a rush hour police chase on the M74 in South Lanarkshire[1]. At around 5.40pm on Friday, September 5, police pursued a vehicle after the driver allegedly failed to stop for officers on the motorway[2] near Abington. Following a chase, the car was stopped and a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, reports the Daily Record[3].

There were no injuries on the motorway, and he is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, September 8. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.40pm on Friday, 5 September, 2025, a vehicle failed to stop for officer on the M74 near Abington. "A short pursuit followed before the vehicle was stopped.

There were no injuries. "A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 September."
