Major motorway closed with traffic chaos after four-vehicle crash

A section of the M60 has closed this morning after a "serious" crash involving four vehicles. The M60[1] is closed clockwise between J6 (Sale) and J9 (near Trafford Park), with police at the scene. National Highways revealed the morning closure was due to a "serious collision[2]".
Vehicles are being diverted locally but heavy traffic is building on the approach to the M60 due to the rush closure. Greater Manchester Police confirmed a vehicle went into the central reservation.

Hour long delays expected
National Highways has increased how much time drivers could have added onto their jounrneys this morning. The agnecy previously said motorists looking to travel through the impacted part of the M60 could face a 50 minute delay to their journey.
This has now increased to an hour as the clockwise lanes between J6 and J9 remains closed, hours after the horror crash.
