M25 ‘long delays’ after truck crashes into bridge with traffic warning

The M25 is experiencing "long delays" after a tipper lorry collided with a bridge[1] this morning (Monday, September 15). The motorway has now re-opened, although heavy congestion is still affecting the area. There is congestion back to the A2 Darenth Interchange and heavier into London on the A2 and A20.

The truck struck Crockenhill Road bridge, in Kent, just before 5am, causing the stretch between Junction 3 (Swanley) and Junction 4 (Orpington) to shut. A diversion that was put in place by National Highways[2] has now ended with the clockwise reopening. A spillage of hydraulic fluid that may have damaged the motorway's tarmac has been cleared. No one has been injured in the collision, the Metropolitan Police has now confirmed.
