Long delays on M20 near Snodland due to fallen tree

Drivers were stuck in long rush-hour delays after a tree fell onto a motorway carriageway. Two lanes of the M20, London-bound, were blocked for several hours just before Junction 4 for Leybourne and Snodland.
In an update at 7.10pm traffic information provider Inrix said all lanes had now reopened and traffic had returned to normal. Vehicles were held for around 10 minutes at 5pm, however cars were soon moving through two out of four lanes.
Workers removed the obstruction using a crane and there was congestion to Junction 6, near Maidstone. There were also long delays around Junction 7, at the Detling Interchange. Elsewhere in the county, at 6pm DFDS reported delays of up to one hour and 15 minutes on ferries between Dover and Dunkirk due to high winds, which have now eased.
There was also queuing traffic on the M2 coastbound near the Stockbury Roundabout due to an obstruction, which has now been removed.
There were long delays earlier this evening due to a crash on the M25 clockwise near Princes Road in Dartford, which have since cleared.
