Huge M4 delays after Prince of Wales Bridge is damaged

Emergency repairs to the M4 motorway[1] took place on the Prince of Wales Bridge and there are long delays this morning, Friday, September 12. National Highways reported 40-minute delays at one point and traffic was moving at a snail's pace. Following flooding earlier today,[2] two lanes were initially closed on the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge for emergency resurfacing work to be carried out, causing severe delays for motorists on the eastbound carriageway.
Traffic and travel monitoring[3] service Inrix reported that all lanes had reopened by 11.24am: "Traffic easing, emergency repairs earlier on M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Eastbound from J23 M48 to J22 (M49 Interchange).
All lanes are now open."
