Driver cheats death in dramatic A50 crash

A driver has cheated death after ploughing into an A50[1] road sign. Police have confirmed that no-one has been injured in this afternoon's collision.
It has closed the A50 eastbound in Uttoxeter since 1.20pm this afternoon.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix states: "The A50 eastbound is closed. There are severe delays due to an accident from the B5030 McDonald's roundabout and the A518 Water Bridge roundabout.
There is congestion to the A552 Upper Tean junction on the eastbound side as well as congestion on roads through Uttoxeter."
Staffordshire Police[2] have informed National Highways following the collision.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to the A50 eastbound, near the Esso garage in Uttoxeter, following reports of a vehicle colliding with a lamppost.
No-one was injured.
The road has been closed due to the position of the lamppost and highways have been informed."
StokeonTrentLive has approached West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] for a statement following the collision.
