Delays after M6 crash between lorry and two cars near Birmingham NEC

Two of three lanes of the M6 northbound, between Junction 4a (M42) and Junction 5 (Sutton Coldfield[1]), have closed following a crash between two cars and a lorry near the NEC in Birmingham[2]. The two lanes were closed as of 12.13pm this afternoon, with West Midlands Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service all in attendance. Delays of 30 minutes and three miles of congestion are being reported in relation to the crash, with National Highways West Midlands warning of disruption to traffic.

A National Highways West Midlands spokesperson said: "M6 northbound J4a (M42) to J5 (Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield), West Midlands. "Two lanes of three, and the hard shoulder is closed due to a collision. "Traffic West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and our officers are in attendance.

"30-minute delays and three miles of congestion." AA Travel Maps reported delays of 25 minutes, saying that two cars and a lorry were involved in the collision. The roads watchdogs said: "Queueing traffic due to an earlier crash, lorry and two cars involved on M6 Northbound before J5 A452 Chester Road (Castle Bromwich).
