Co Armagh woman killed in crash between car and lorry named locally

Yesterday at 19:35A woman who lost her life in a crash involving a car and a lorry in Monaghan has been named locally.
Aoife Lennon, 38, was driving when her car collided with a lorry on the N2 in Castleshane, Co Monaghan around 2.45pm on Wednesday, September 10.
Emergency services attended the scene but Ms Lennon died at the scene.
She is reported to be a resident of Derrynoose, Co Armagh, and the wife of a local Garda officer.
Gardai said a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course and that "no other injuries were reported".
Members of Derrynoose GAC shared their condolences, posting online that they "deeply regret the death of former player Aoife Lennon who has tragically passed away."
A statement added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Aoife's wife Karen, her mum & dad Seamus and Adele, her brothers Patrick & Sean (Senior player), her nephew Jamie, her nieces Grace & Lila (underage players) and to her wider family circle."
The club confirmed the wake for Ms Lennon would be open to public tomorrow Friday 12th September at her home on Drumnahavil Road.
Burial Mass will take place on Saturday at 2pm in St Mochua's Church Derrynoose
Derrynoose GAC concluded: "Mary Queen of the Gael pray for her.
RIP Aoife."
Meanwhile, Gardai are urging anyone who may have witnessed this tragic incident to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 2:30pm and 2:50pm on Wednesday 10th September 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai."
