Car hits 160mph in police chase as driver arrested after roundabout crash

The pursuit started in Cumbria before crossing the county line into Lancashire

A high-speed police chase that started in Cumbria ended dramatically in Lancashire after a vehicle hit speeds of up to 160mph on the M55 motorway. The pursuit, which involved Cumbria Police, crossed county borders before specialist roads policing officers in Lancashire were called in to intercept the vehicle[1].
Despite attempts to bring the chase to a safe end, the driver failed to navigate a roundabout after exiting the motorway, according to police. The vehicle came to an abrupt halt, and the driver was promptly arrested at the scene, reports Lancs Live[2].
Police have confirmed that the individual is now in custody facing several charges.
In a post on X, Lancs Road Police said: "Vehicle pursued by @Cumbriapolice is located in Lancashire and reaches speeds of up to 160mph on the M55.
"Specialist Roads Policing Officers respond and the vehicle fails to negotiate a roundabout off the motorway.
"Driver arrested for multiple offences."
