Book now for latest Transport Managers conferences or miss out, Logistics UK warns

Launching at Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil on 17 September, and moving on to venues around the country, the one-day conferences will give attendees the chance to hear direct from expert speakers including senior industry figures and policy makers - such as the local Traffic Commissioner - on wide-ranging topics affecting the role of the transport manager in 2025 and beyond.  One highlight will be a presentation from the The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) of its findings on vehicle roadworthiness and maintenance. The talk will also highlight potential areas where operators can make improvements.

DVSA will share its thinking on some of the good practices it sees, the useful tools that are available to help maintain compliance, plus how positive learning cultures within operators and the 'safe system' way of thinking can help minimise operational issues. It will also cover some developments and changes that are expected across the industry, and how the role of a transport manager remains critical in all vehicle operators' businesses, whatever their nature or size. Eric Higham, Logistics UK senior contract manager, will present real life findings from vehicle inspections drawn from the organisation's Vision compliance platform, and delegates will also have the opportunity to see a demonstration of Vision during the day.

The Transport Manager 2025 programme includes:

  • A view from the Traffic Commissioner.
  • Compliance update.
  • Mock Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation.
  • Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) key best practice on preventative maintenance.
  • Future of operator licensing.
  • Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) update on industry engagement.
  • Shifting Gears to improve driver health and road safety: The SHIFT programme (Structured Health Intervention For Transport).
  • Crime and theft in commercial transport by the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS)

Logistics UK's member advice centre (MAC) will provide an essential legislative roundup and technical update highlighting the main topics on the horizon that managers need to be aware of to ensure the safety, compliance and efficiency of their organisation, and MAC advisors will be on hand throughout the day to discuss legislation and compliance issues.  Transport Manager 2025, which is celebrating its 25th year, is supported by BP, Brigade Electronics, Weightmans, WTW and a variety of regional exhibitors. For anyone unable to attend in person, there will be a virtual event on Friday 21 November.
