Articulated lorry crashes off road and lands in field

A lorry crashed off a Somerset road, overturned onto its side and ploughed through a hedge before landing in a field. Firefighters were called to the scene at Bratton Seymour, Wincanton[1], at around 3.13pm on Monday, September 15. The incident is thought to have taken place on the A371, just outside the village.

Wincanton Fire Station said the driver managed to get out of the articulated lorry and was not hurt. A photos shows the lorry, which was attached to a trailer, overturned in a field by the side of the road. Firefighters[2] remained on the scene to help direct traffic[3]. Wincanton Fire Station said: "Wincanton and Castle Cary were alerted to an RTC involving a large articulated lorry that had left the road and come to rest on its side in a field.

"Thankfully, on arrival, crews found the driver already out of the vehicle and unharmed.

Firefighters remained on scene for a while to manage traffic."
