Serious lorry crash closed major Cambs road for nearly 11 hours

The M11 has reopened after a serious crash closed the road for nearly 11 hours. A lorry and a car were involved in the crash, which left the road closed in both directions near Cambridge[1] since 5am today (Tuesday, August 26). A vehicle drove through the central reservation, according to traffic monitoring company Inrix.

The East of England Ambulance Service[2] confirmed that three people were injured[3], including one person who has suffered serious injuries[4]. The road has now reopened and severe delays have cleared along the road. Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "M11 in both directions re-opened, severe delays cleared, emergency barrier repairs complete and earlier accident from J11 A10 (Cambridge South / Harston) to J12 (Cambridge).

Previous congestion to Local roads surrounding both junctions, especially Trumpington road into and out of Cambridge." Cambridgeshire Police were called to the incident earlier today. A police spokesperson said: "We were called at about 4.50am today with reports of a collision on the M11 at junction 11 Trumpington involving a car and a lorry.

Emergency services are at the scene. There are significant delays." To get more breaking news and top stories delivered directly to your phone, join our new WhatsApp community. Click this link[5] to receive your daily dose of CambridgeshireLive content.
