Refuse worker airlifted to hospital after bin lorry crash in Newtown

The man was taken by air ambulance after being hurt in the Maesyrhandir area of Newtown[1] on Friday, August 15. Powys County Council[2] has confirmed that a collision involved one of its vehicles and operatives. A spokesperson for the council added that an update about the injured worker's condition would not be shared because the man and his family have asked for privacy.

Dyfed-Powys Police[3] said officers received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision at around 4.20pm, adding that the Health and Safety Executive[4] (HSE) had been informed about the workplace incident.

A spokesperson for Powys County Council said: "There was an accident involving one of our vehicles and operatives on Friday afternoon in the Newtown area, which resulted in the operative being taken by air ambulance for treatment. 

"As with any such incident, a full investigation is underway into the cause of the accident."

A HSE spokesperson added that the independent regulator was working with Dyfed-Powys Police after being notified about the incident.
