Police: Automatic weapon, drugs found in Freeport residence

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - A 34-year-old man is charged after police reportedly found guns and drugs during a search of his home in Freeport.

Cornelius Ellis is charged with felony possession of a firearm without requisite FOID and possession with the intent to deliver 500 to 2000 grams of cannabis.

Just before 1 p.m. August 21, Freeport police searched a residence in the 500 block of E. Pleasant Street.

A semi-automatic pistol equipped with an illegal automatic switch, one 30 round high capacity magazine and around two pounds of suspected cannabis was found in the home, according to police.

Ellis is currently being held in the Stephenson County Jail.
