Northern Ireland’s First eActros Rolls Into MBNI Truck & Van On Michelin X Line Energy Tyres

Commercial vehicle dealership MBNI Truck & Van has chosen MICHELIN X Line Energy 2 tyres to showcase its new flagship Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 LS demonstrator. The eActros - which landed the prestigious International Truck of the Year 2025 award - is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and features the manufacturer's striking ProCabin cab design. Keen to optimise the vehicle's performance, the dealership specified the premium Michelin fitments, which are rated A for fuel efficiency.
Tim Moore, Truck Sales Executive at MBNI Truck & Van, says: "We're very excited to bring the first eActros to Northern Ireland, which will play a crucial role in helping hauliers to explore how they can decarbonise their operations as we all work towards net-zero. "For this pioneering vehicle we needed a tyre of a similar calibre, which would allow it to deliver its best real-world range. The MICHELIN X Line products, which offer the best rolling-resistance available in a truck tyre, proved irresistible on that basis."
Sitting on Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels, the 385/55 R22.5 X Line Energy F steer and 315/70 R22.5 X Line Energy D2 drive-axle tyres fitted to the new demonstrator are designed to deliver maximum fuel economy/battery range while still maintaining longevity as well as reliable wet weather performance. They are particularly well suited to long distance transport applications. Technologies incorporated into the fitments include Regenion, a self-regenerating tread design; and Infinicoil, which is a continuous steel wire wrapped around the circumference of the tyre to provide it with greater stability and durability.
Michelin's X Line Energy range is a 'multi-life' tyre that reduces the cost of ownership. The tyres are regrooved once the tread depth reaches 3-4mm, helping to extend each casing's life in its most fuel-efficient state. Once the regrooved tyres have worn, they are retreaded at the MICHELIN Remix plant in Stoke.
The Remix tyres can then be regrooved. The deal was supported by Primoz Lakota, Truck Sales Account Manager & Defence Account Manager for the UK & Ireland at Michelin. The fully electric eActros comes with three 200kWh battery packs onboard and a quoted range of 500km on a single charge.
The truck's engine delivers a peak output of 600kW (800bhp). Featuring a ProCabin cab the truck is fitted with a raft of class-leading safety systems including Safeguard Assist 2, Active Drive Assist and Brake Assist 6 to keep both driver and other road users safe. MBNI Truck & Van is based in Newtownabbey and has a second site in Dungannon, as well as a sister company in England.
In addition to the complete range of new and used Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, the business offers servicing, original parts supply and finance services.
