The crashed truck on the M6

This was the moment a lorry overturned after crashing off the M6[1] in North Staffordshire. The truck flipped on to its side in the collision on the northbound side close to junction 16[2] for Stoke-on-Trent this morning (August 20).

Photos from the scene show multiple police cars and fire engines in attendance. However, it is understood the trucker escaped serious injury as paramedics have not been called.

The collision has closed two lanes of the motorway as emergency services deal with the aftermath.

Traffic remains slow on both sides due to onlookers.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "Queueing traffic and two lanes closed due to overturned lorry on M6 Northbound from J16 A500) to J17 A534 Old Mill Road (Sandbach/Crewe). Lanes one and two of four closed. Lorry has tipped over and fallen off of the main carriageway.

Traffic slow on the opposite side likely due to onlookers."

StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for statements.
