Man suspected of drink-driving after crash between car and lorry

Traffic on the route had to be diverted after the road was closed for hours

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash between a lorry and a car. Officers from Gwent Police[1] were called to reports of a crash between a car and a lorry on Pant Road, Newbridge, at around 11am on Thursday.
A man was arrested[2] on suspicion of failing to stop, driving under the influence of alcohol, and public order offences. He is currently in police custody.[3] Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry in Pant Road, Newbridge at around 11.20am on Thursday, August 21.
"Officers are in attendance, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving under the influence of alcohol, and public order offences.
He is currently in police custody.
