Man killed in crash on motorway

The man died at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services

A man has died following a motorbike crash on the motorway.
Police were called to the scene of the crash on the M60[1] between junction 18 for Simister Island and junction 19, near Middleton in Greater Manchester at around 8.15pm on Friday, August 1. The man in his 50s, who was riding the bike, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics and emergency services, police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The motorway was closed just after 8pm and diversions were put in place, the MEN reports.[2]
In a statement on Saturday, GMP[3] said: "Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M60 in which a motorcyclist died.
"At around 8.15pm yesterday, Friday, we were called to reports of a single-vehicle RTC involving a motorcycle travelling clockwise on the M60 between junctions 18 and 19.
"Despite best efforts of the emergency services, a male in his 50s sadly died at the scene of the collision.
"No other vehicles were involved and we are now appealing for more information to understand the circumstances that led up to the collision.
"We are particularly interested in anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.
